I'm unable to open VLe textbooks on my Apple device / Safari browser
Answer
By default, Apple’s Safari browser enforces several privacy-related settings, and either separately or in combination, these can prevent the Library’s VLeBooks.com e-books service from working correctly. Unless exceptions are made to these key Safari browser settings, Apple users may see only brief details and not the full range of online and offline reading options available.

VLeBooks.com needs to open content (the full view of an e-book) in its Online Reader, in a new Safari browser tab. Safari will by automatically detect and block this activity unless you make an exception.

As of Safari version 17.1 (Autumn 2023) there are three Safari Websites settings LBS students need to change, for VLeBooks.com to work correctly and display e-books content for online reading
Open Safari > Settings > Websites > General and follow the steps listed below to apply exclusions for the VLeBooks.com website so it will operate correctly.
Reader – turn Off ‘Automatically use Reader on the websites below’ for these websites: vlebooks.com r3.vlereader.com and r4.vlereader.com
(Apple’s long-standing Reader feature tries to optimise reading web pages by removing advertisements and other extraneous content; but it conflicts with the VLeBooks website online ‘reader’ tools)
